Foot orthotics are shoe inserts that are custom designed to correct foot posture.
Who benefits from foot orthotics?
Custom foot orthotics are used to correct the mechanics of the lower limb in a variety of conditions. Common examples are Plantar fasciitis, Shin splints, Bunions and Calluses. Hip, knee and back problems that are the result of abnormal alignment in the foot can also be helped by custom orthotics.
How are custom foot orthotics made?
At your assessment, your physiotherapist will take your history and perform a physical exam to determine if orthotics are the solution to your problem. This is followed by a computerized gait and pressure analysis of your feet. This information is utilized to hand craft an orthotic that is suited to your problem. At Acadia Physical Therapy, we do not limit ourselves to simply analyzing foot function but also determine any spinal or lower limb issues that might be contributing to your pain.
Does orthotic come with a warranty?
Any modification to your orthotics is free of cost if done within 90 days. Depending on the type of orthotic that you choose, warranty ranges from 6 months to a year from the time of ordering. The warranty typically covers delamination and tearing.
