Physiotherapy using Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a type of alternative medicine that treats patients by insertion and manipulation of solid, generally thin needles in the body.
Traditional theory of acupuncture draws from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and works through the manipulation of qi (a hypothesized form of energy) through the needling of specific acupuncture points that are connected by channels known as meridians.
At our clinic, we offer acupuncture as a safe and effective treatment option to promote healing, relieve pain, and restore balance to your body.
What are the Benefits of Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is widely recognized for its ability to provide natural pain relief. It can be effective in alleviating various types of pain, including musculoskeletal pain, headaches, migraines, arthritis, and menstrual pain.
Stress Reduction and Emotional Well-being:
Acupuncture is known to have a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It can also improve sleep quality and enhance overall emotional well-being.
Enhancing Physical Function:
Acupuncture can improve circulation, boost the immune system, and enhance overall physical function. It can aid in the recovery from injuries, improve digestion, and support the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
How is Acupuncture different from IMS?
During a treatment session Acupuncture needles are inserted into a certain number of acupuncture points and remain for the duration of the treatment. The needles regulate the nervous system while they are in the body. Please refer to the image above to a visual representation of how it may look.
While IMS technique may use the same needles, the method of treatment is quite different. During IMS treatment, the needles are instantly removed. For more information, visit our IMS page.
